A working group, comprised of political and security official, is to look into ways of boosting control of airfreight by possibly widening such a ban to other countries, according to the official.

The move comes only three days after the discovery of explosive devices hidden in ink printers in two parcels sent by plane from Yemen.

Meanwhile, Berlin has also suspended all passenger flights from Yemen, a German government source announced.

Germany is also pursuing joint efforts with the European Union and the US by reviewing the control of airfreight.

British Prime Minister David Cameron said over the weekend that a bomb parcel from Yemen had landed in Cologne, Germany before being transferred to a Britain-bound flight en route to the United States.

German authorities said the parcels were only discovered after a tip-off from the Saudi Arabian secret service.
