The protestors walked from Yaadgare Shahjahani Park to Neelam Park. Later, a group submitted a memorandum to Governor Rameshwar Thakur.

The survivors chanted slogans against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and state Urban Administration and Development Minister Babulal Gaur.

Tonnes of lethal gas leaked from the Bhopal pesticide plant of Union Carbide on the night of Dec 2-3, 1984, killing hundreds instantly and many thousands over the years.

“Even after 26 years of the tragedy, around 6,600 gas victims are going to OPDs of different hospitals every day. Around 50,000 are getting checked and treated every year. Instead of helping them, the state government has conspired not to compensate the survivors,” said Abdual Jabbar, who led the protest rally.
