Lucknow: In pursuance of non-compliance of court’s earlier order Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Kashi Nath today issued non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Shia cleric and Imam-e-Juma Maulana Kalbe Jawwad slating December 1 as the next day of hearing.
Jawwad was issued several summonses for recording his statement as a witness in a land dispute case. The case relates to October 10, 2005 when several members of Shia Waqf Board were allegedly chased away by some persons who claimed themselves to be associated with land mafia Lallu Yadav. Police registered a case against Lallu Yadav and had filed the charge-sheet in the court. However, despite several summons to Jawwad to appear before court for recording his statement in the case, he failed to turn up.
The police in their report submitted that Jawwad is a Shia Muslims’ religious leader and the summons should be served through higher officials. Taking the lapse seriously, the court issued NBW against the religious leader.
