New Delhi : India has extended a $60 million Line of Credit to Kenya through its Export Import (Exim) bank to support the development of the power transmission sector, officials said Wednesday, a day after Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga ended his three-day India visit.
The agreement was signed Tuesday in the presence of Odinga and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by Exim bank Executive Director Prabhakar Dalal and Kenyan High Commissioner to India Festus Kaberia.
Thanking India for its cooperation, officials said Odinga told Manmohan Singh that power was a priority for Kenya.
Both leaders discussed economic cooperation and strengthening of historical ties between both the countries, said a Kenyan High Commission official.
Odinga, who called on Manmohan Singh Tuesday, also held separate talks with United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi Tuesday.
“He was here to attend the Indian Economic Summit, and he called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to discuss better partnership and later he held discussions with Mrs Gandhi in a separate meeting,” the official said.
