In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Women and Child Development Krishna Tirath said that the women’s commission has proposed amendments in the National Commission for Women Act, 1990.

“The proposed amendments to the NCW Act are for giving more powers to the NCW, specifically by adding a new chapter to deal with inquiries and investigations,” she said.

“These will be scrutinised and the decision to amend the act will be contingent on the outcome of the scrutiny,” she added.
