New Delhi: The Commonwealth Games Federation General Assembly Saturday commended the Delhi Games Organising Committee for getting things ready for hosting the Oct 3-14 event.
The assembly passed a resolution praising the OC for bringing things under control before the arrival of the athletes and bringing the Games back to the highest degree of excellence, an OC release said.
“The resolution moved by CGF president Mike Fennell was passed unanimously,” the release said.
“The Commonwealth Games Associations (CGAs) of the 71 nations and territories taking part in Delhi 2010 especially appreciated the efforts in readying the Games Village for use by the 6,800 athletes and team officials,” it said.
Fennell said that this would be the largest Games in the history of the Commonwealth Games, surpassing the participation in Melbourne 2006 by more than 1,000.
