Mumbai : A benchmark index of Indian equities Friday opened on a sombre note after a sell-off in the previous session.
The 30-share sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 20,297.58 points, was within minutes at 20,312.41 points, almost unchanged from its previous close at 20,315.32 points.
At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the 50-share S&P CNX Nifty was trading at 6,123.75 points, up 0.06 percent.
Broader markets were doing relatively better. The BSE midcap was trading 0.34 percent up and the BSE smallcap index 0.5 percent higher.
