“A year ago when I announced that there were some concerns, I was asked, ‘What is plan B?’ and I said our plan B is Delhi. And Delhi has performed. I pay tribute to the people of Delhi for their cooperation,” Fennel told reporters here.

“People have seen an extremely positive image of the Games right across the world. People have to deal with issues, there’s no denying that but the end result has been good,” he added.

The fate of Indian walker Rani Yadav who tested positive for banned drug nandrolone Wednesday hangs in balance as according to Fennel, her B sample would be tested Thursday and the results will be out in 48 hours.

“We cannot have a final determination until we get the B sample but her suspension remains in force,” he said.

On the negative media coverage, Fennell said: “I don’t blame the media for exposing what had to be exposed… They helped us to get action in certain areas.”

Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi said: “We have now got a set of people who know what the Games are about and that will be helpful in the future. We faced up to the challenges. My senior management delivered a great Games.”
