Several politicians at CWG closing ceremony

New Delhi: The colourful closing ceremony of the 2010 Commonwealth Games here Thursday drew several leaders from both the government and the opposition.

Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi were in the VVIP stands while Gandhi’s son and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi was sitting in gallery. Lok Speaker Meira Kumar was also present.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani, accompanied by wife Kamla and daughter Pratibha, attended the ceremony and applauded the athletes and artistes. Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj also attended the function.

Several ministers, including Jaipal Reddy (Urban Development), M.S. Gill (Sports) and Kapil Sibal (Human Resource Development) were also present, along with Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.
