Games success result of collective effort, says Dikshit

New Delhi: A single agency cannot be given the credit of successful completion of the Commonwealth Games, and it was a “collective effort”, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said Friday, a day after the mega event came to an end here.

“No single agency can take responsibility for the success of the Commonwealth Games. It was a collective effort of various agencies,” she said in an interview to CNN-IBN.

Dikshit, who also regretted the absence of unity among various agencies in the run-up to the Commonwealth Games, said: “I would have been happier if all agencies would have worked in tandem.”

Recalling the collapse of the foot overbridge, Dikshit said the incident was a “black spot” on the government ahead of the event.

“The collapse of that foot overbridge was one black spot that the Delhi government got. However, alternative arrangements were made within three days, the army was good enough to help us erect that bridge,” she said.

Dikshit also promised stern action against those found responsible for the collapse.
