New Delhi: Two men identified as Zahid and Abid alias Zamil were detained in connection with the Jama Masjid firing incident by the northeast police.
The arrests were made after the police received a “specific tip-off” that the two knew about the attack and people responsible for it.

Both the persons arrested have a criminal record and they belong to a criminal gang. Reportedly two country-made weapons and a pistol were also seized.
Interestingly the police are completely tightlipped about the detentions, but as per the insider’s information it was a rival gang which told the police that the two men had information about those who carried out the attacks.
But the family members of those detain claimed that it was actually the business rivalry which made the rival group to inform the police falsely about the case.
This is the first big arrest made by the police after it announced the reward of 10 lakh for the informer who provides information about those responsible for the Jama Masjid firing incident.
Besides, people with criminal pasts were being questioned in Delhi, Mumbai and western UP cities like Bijnor and Saharanpur.
Police is very much secretive about the pattern of questioning of people and their detention.
Interestingly the people who have been questioned till now have either relatives in Pakistan with whom they are in constant touch or have visited Pakistan at least once. For instance four men from southeast Delhi, two from trans Yamuna region and two from Bijnor have been questioned in connection with the shoot out.
