Muslim Law Board meet begins under tight security

Lucknow: Will All India Muslim Personal Law Board move Supreme Court challenging the Allahabad High Court verdict in Babri Masjid title suit or prefer dialogue with other parties to the case? The answer will be available to the country by 4 pm today after the marathon meeting of the Working Committee of the board.

Under unprecedented security cover, the much-awaited meeting began at 10 am today at Nadwatul Ulema seminary here with Board president Maulana Rabe Hasani Nadwi and eminent Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Sadiq sharing the chair. After the meeting the decision will be announced in a press conference at 4 pm.

Eminent members of the Board attending the meet include Board secretary Abdur Raheem Qureshi, Jamaat Islami Hind president Maulana Jalaluddin Umri, Ameer Shariat Bihar & Orissa Maulana Nizamuddin and Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind leaders Maulana Mahmood Madani and Maulana Arshad Madani.

The conference hall where the meeting is under way is under blanket security cover with heavy deployment of PAC and RAF security forces.

The Board is discussing the recommendations of its legal committee which studied the High Court verdict in its meeting on October 9 in New Delhi.
