Anil Bajpai, president of the Federation of RWAs in east Delhi, said in a statement that Delhiites underwent a harrowing time the last few years due to widespread construction in the capital.

“Our money is involved in most of the projects, so we have a right to know where so much money was spent,” Bajpai said.

“It’s time to audit the Games including escalating costs of construction of venues, stadiums and other infrastructure, ticketing, procurement and outsourcing,” he said.

He said that apart from the officials of the Organising Committee of the Games, government bodies including the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Delhi government, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) should also be probed.

“We expect the prime minister’s probe will end within the stipulated period and all guilty will be punished,” he added.

The demand comes in the wake of mounting allegations of corruption in the organisation of the Oct 3-14 Games.
