Mumbai: Telecom service provider Reliance Communications Tuesday announced the launch of its SMS based mobile conferencing service, an extention of its Group Talk facility.
The service will enable Reliance mobile customers to establish a conference call amongst a group of nine contacts by sending an SMS.
“Our mobile conferencing service is a cost-effective, efficient and a convenient solution that enhances productivity of small, medium enterprise customers,” said Anil Pande, head of the value added services division of the company.
To be made available to all Reliance Mobile GSM and CDMA subscribers, the service comes from US based Kodiak Networks, a global leader of group communications’ solutions.
To create a group, user needs to type “C …….” with phone numbers (both mobile and landline) starting with prefix 91 (for mobile) and STD code (for landline) and send this as an SMS to 51234323.
To initiate a conference call, the user just needs to send an SMS in the format – CHAT – to 51234323 and all the group members will be notified via an SMS giving the conference dial-in number.
Post-paid subscribers can dial the unique number given at the time of group creation, which in turn will dial all the group members to establish an instant call conference.
The Group Talk service subscription is offered at a price of Rs.40 per month. Subscribers can also download the Group Talk application and install it on their handset if it supports the application.
