Ghaziabad: Suspecting an insider hand, investigators Sunday questioned employees of a finance company from where gold worth over Rs.1 crore was looted by armed dacoits in Ghaziabad a day earlier, police said.
About a dozen armed dacoits looted cash, mobile phones and jewellery worth over Rs.1 crore from Muthoot Finance Limited’s office in Shalimar Garden Extension II in Delhi’s suburban Sahibabad Saturday.
“About a dozen employees are being questioned, mobile phones have been put on surveillance but till now we have not reached any conclusion,” said Superintendent of Police (City) A.K. Vijaita.
“Vinay Yadav, an executive, and branch manager S.K. Jha were questioned along with other employees. Vinay revealed that he had given notice to the company to resign and Saturday was his last working day,” said Vijaita.
The dacoits Saturday remained in the company’s office for 35 minutes. After overpowering security guard Brijendra Singh, the dacoits removed sensors of CCTV camera and destroyed two cameras before looting gold and cash.
They terrorised the staff by brandishing pistols, beat up a woman employee and took the keys of the safety lockers from an accountant and looted Rs.6 lakh in cash.
“An inventory of the looted items revealed a loss of gold ornaments worth about Rs.1 crore,” said Abhinav Chobey, the company’s chief marketing officer.
