Moscow yet to get official invitation to NATO summit – Lavrov

By RIA Novosti,

Moscow : Russia has not so far received an official invitation to attend a NATO summit in Lisbon, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday.

Western media reported on Wednesday that NATO had invited Russia to attend the organization’s summit in November in a bid to enhance cooperation on security issues, including Afghanistan and Iran.

NATO diplomats said they were waiting for a response from Moscow to the invitation.

“I have heard reports in the Western media, but, unfortunately, as often happens, in this case the media is jumping the gun, running ahead of official channels,” he said.

“We have not received anything via official channels.”
