New Delhi: Condemning strongly Jama Masjid shooting, Kumari Selja, Minister for Tourism, Government of India, said the attack on tourists shows desperation of those elements who want to create panic in the society by attacking innocent people.
The two gunmen on a motorcycle opened random fire on tourist bus near the historic Jama Masjid on Sunday morning which injured two Taiwanese tourists. The attackers succeeded to escape the place. The incident took place when only two weeks are left for the Commonwealth Games that will see the participation of some 7,000 athletes and officials from 71 nations and territories.
Ms. Kumari Selja said that investigation agencies are at work and trying to bring the culprits to book. She appealed to the tourists and tourism fraternity not to be panicky by such stray incidents as India is a safe destination and safety and security of tourists is utmost concern of the Government.
