New Delhi : Abhinav Bindra, India’s first individual Olympic gold medallist, will carry the Queen’s Baton to the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium here Oct 3.
“The baton has come to Delhi and the games are going to begin with its arrival. The baton will be brought to the opening ceremony by Abhinav Bindra,” said organising committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi after welcoming the Baton relay.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor Tejinder Khanna, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit and several of her cabinet colleagues were present at the ceremony. The Baton relay reached the capital from neighbouring Haryana.
