Pitch will help seamers in the first 10 overs: Ganguly

Mumbai : The Wankhede wicket will initially help the seamers in the India-Sri Lanka World Cup final here Saturday before the spinners come into play as the match progresses, says former India captain Sourav Ganguly in his pitch report.

“It is red soil and it is very evenly rolled. There is not much grass cover but little moisture in it and it will make the ball seam. It has been the history of Wankhede that the new ball does a little bit in the first 10 overs. It is the first game on this pitch and there will be seam movement early on and as game progresses, spinners will come on play.”

“Whoever wins the toss whould bat first,” he concluded.
