2G scam: Tata, Radia appear before PAC

New Delhi : Tata group chairman Ratan Tata and corporate lobbyist Niira Radia Monday appeared before parliament’s Public Accounts Committee to testify in the probe into alleged financial irregularities in the allocation of 2G spectrum.

Tata reached the PAC office in Parliament House around 3 p.m.

Radia, whose phone was tapped and conversations with politicians, corporates, bureaucrats and journalists were taped and is said to be a key figure in what is billed as the biggest scam of independent India, appeared before the panel around 11 a.m.

Radia, according to sources, told PAC chairman Murli Manohar Joshi that some of the tapes were doctored.
