Nine killed as tornadoes, storms hit US

Houston (US) : At least nine people were killed overnight in tornadoes and storms in the US states of Arkansas and Oklahoma, Xinhua reported.

Seven people, including three children, were killed in Arkansas and two others were killed in Oklahoma.

Among the victims in Arkansas, a seven-year-old boy and his mother were killed after a tree fell on their house.

Most of the deaths were caused by trees and heavy branches falling on homes, officials said.

There have also been reports of power outage. Tornadoes also hit Mississippi and Alabama.
