The two-member bench of M.K. Gupta and Ashok Kumar also issued notices to the state government, former state police chief P.C. Pandey and former home secretary Balvant Singh.

The principal bench of CAT in Delhi earlier this month quashed the downgrading of the ACR of another Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Kuldip Sharma.

Rajnish Rai, a 1992 batch IPS officer, arrested three IPS officers – D.G. Vanzara, Raj Kumar Pandian and Dinesh M.N. April 24, 2007 – for their alleged involvement in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh case.
