New Delhi : The Congress party Wednesday clarified that the land taken by the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust was only a leased land which was willingly given by the gram panchayat.
Seeking to clear the air on the issue after the opposition drew parallels between this and the land acquisition in Bhatta-Parsaul, Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said there was no comparison between the two.
“Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust applied for the land and it was given by the gram panchayat. The opposition’s reaction is irresponsible politics,” Singhvi said.
A court Monday pulled up the Haryana government for unlawfully allocating land in Gurgaon to the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust.
Bhatta-Parsaul in Noida has witnessed widespread discontent since the past few months with farmers demanding higher compensation for their land acquired by the Uttar Pradesh government.
