Uttar Pradesh minister’s son detained at airport

Lucknow : An Uttar Pradesh minister’s son was detained at the Chaudhary Charan Singh airport at Amausi here Wednesday after live cartridges were recovered from him, officials said.

Sanjay Rajbhar, son of state Transport Minister Ramachal Rajbhar, was held by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, who recovered as many as 20 cartridges from his baggage.

“After nabbing the minister’s son, CISF personnel handed him over to the district police for interrogation,” an airport official told reporters, preferring anonymity as the matter was related to the son of a senior leader of the state’s ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

“The minister’s son was leaving for Delhi by a private airline flight,” he added.

According to police, during interrogation, Sanjay claimed that some of his family members could have accidentally placed the cartridges in his bag and that he was unaware of their presence.
