Kolkata : The politburo of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Friday met in Kolkata to discuss the current political scenario and the course of action for the party in the wake of the recent disastrous poll performance in Kerala and West Bengal.
The meet, attended by general secretary Prakash Karat and other members, except Kerala unit chief P.Vijayan, will be followed by a two-day central committee meeting here from Aug 6.
Former West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee is attending his first politburo meeting since the party’s debacle in the assembly elections earlier this year. He had skipped all earlier politburo and central committee sessions after the April-May polls.
Price rise, the new land acquisition bill and the Lokpal bill figure in the agenda for the meetings.
The date of the next party congress would also be finalised.
