Shimla : A museum showcasing the heritage of Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla was inaugurated Saturday at the United Services Club, popularly known as US Club, here by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal.
Dhumal said the Asian Development Bank (ADB) had sanctioned Rs.428 crore for tourism infrastructure development projects in the state.
The US Club building housing the Shimla Heritage Museum would also be restored using the ADB funds.
He said Rs.19 crore would be spent on restoring the historic Town Hall building, made in typical European architecture on the Ridge, and beautification of the Mall, which was once a “British only” street meant for strolling.
The heritage museum offers a glimpse of the British era buildings like the Town Hall, Viceregal Lodge, the Gaiety Theatre, the Vidhan Sabha, Barnes Court, Rippon Hospital, Combermere Bridge and Gorton Castle.
