Sharjah : The Sharjah Charity Association (SCA) has delivered the first tranche of emergency aid to hundreds of famine-struck people in Somalia, it was announced Saturday.
SCA gave out food packages to 1,200 families in Homr Jabjab and Afjoy areas of Mogadishu, that has seen a steady stream of refugees coming from the country’s southern regions, hit by the worst drought in six decades.
The charity is procuring rice, flour, sugar and edible oil from the markets in neighbouring countries, said Mohammed Hamdan Al Zeri, head of projects at SCA.
