Sydney : An unbeaten double century by Reeza Hendricks placed South Africa in a commanding position at the close of play onSunday, the second day of their three-day match against Australia in the Emerging Players Cricket Tournament at Endeavour Park, Townsville in Queensland. The visitors declared their first innings at 407 for six in reply to the home team’s 224.
At stumps, Australia were 23 without loss in their second innings.
Reeza cracked 27 fours and two sixes in his unbeaten 222 and was involved in big partnerships with Truba Bauma (53) and Mengailso Mosehle (68) for the second and sixth wickets.
In the Australian innings, Sain Whiteman scored 39, Ryan Canters 66 and Nathan Brain remained 54 not out.
For South Africa, medium-fast Kyle Abbot and Jacobus Pienaar claimed five wickets each, conceding 37 runs each.
