Dharamsala : Cyberspace was Sunday abuzz with best wishes of Tibetans from around the world for their prime minister-elect Lobsang Sangay, who will assume office Monday.
The Kalon Tripa (prime minister-in-exile) will take the oath of office at a ceremony in Tsuglagkhang, the main temple here.
As on Sunday, Sangay’s Twitter account @lobsangsangay India had 104 followers.
Tibetan activist and hardliner Tenzin Tsundue who is settled here wrote: “In a new beginning for Tibet under your leadership.”
India is home to the Dalai Lama and some 100,000 Tibetan exiles. The Dalai Lama is based in this northern hill town.
Gyatso Thupten wrote: “I have auditioned your conference at Asia Society in New York and you did a good job. It seems you had a very constructive exchange with the public (including) some Chinese. I find what you have said at the debate is useful both for the Chinese and for the Tibetans.”
“I wish you the best in your journey in maintaining balance with all the factions of a political forum,” said Lama Naljorma Yeshe Khadro.
Pasang Tsering wrote: “I wish if there were LIVE coverage of the inaugural ceremony so that everyone everywhere could witness this historic event. Anyway, God bless you. God bless Tibet.”
Thupten Thaiyang said: “Good luck … hope you visit some poor settlement and talk face to face with poor.”
Shiwapa Kunkyab Pasang Tenzin called the prime minister-elect a “revolutionary” leader.
“Tibet will look forward to see you as the first Prime Minister or President of free Tibet!!! Victory to Lobsang Sangay, Victory to Tibet!!!”
Lhundup Dorjee wrote: “It is really glad to have a newly elected PM for us who is very young and well educated in the field of law as well. So, I hope his intelligence and expertise in this field will help us to reveal the real historical problems that we Tibetans are undergoing at the hand of the ruling Chinese communist party.”
Jamyang Tashi said: “Auspicious!!! future of Tibet lies in ur palm. HOPE u will not disappoint people holding high hope in u.”
“Wish I could be there, what a moment would it have been to witness a friend, the PM of Tibet,” Karma Bhutia said.
“I can’t wait to see you take over. Congrats to you,” Gyatso Choni Tsultrim Gyatso said.
“He is someone from the younger generation. And it signifies that the Tibetan cause will not fade away after the passing away of the Dalai Lama who is 76,” remarked an admirer.
