The correspondent of the ‘The Hindu’ was present in the court and submitted the newspaper cuttings of May 17 and 18, 2009.

Since media persons did not come, the court went through the audio and video clippings, which were scheduled to be tested today. Videos and wireless messages of the police of the day of firing were presented before the commission in the presence of defense consul Adv Muhammed Salih.

Six people died and several others were injured in the police firing that took place in Beemapalli on May 17, 2009. There were some problems between the people of Christian-majority Cheriyathura and Muslim-dominated Beemapalli. However, it is accused that the police failed to solve the problems in time, which led to clashes and ultimately the police firing which killed six people of Beemapalli.
