Lucknow : Two drug peddlers, who operated in various states of the country, were Saturday arrested in Uttar Pradesh with heroin worth over Rs.1 crore, police said.
The two men, in their mid-30s, were nabbed from Jaunpur district’s Mangra Badshahpur area following a joint operation by the special operation group and the police.
“The two belong to Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district. They have been involved in the illegal trade for over last five years,” Police Inspector Banwari Mishra told reporters in Jaunpur, some 200 km from here.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the two used to supply illegal drugs in several states, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and the National Capital Region.
