New Delhi : The lawns near the historical India Gate were Sunday packed with hundreds of protesters who later marched to the Ramlila Ground to support social activist Anna Hazare, who says he will not break his fast till parliament passes an anti-graft bill framed by his team.
“It is now or never…we must root out corruption which has corroded this country. If not for the country, do it for yourself,” said 25-year-old Shikha Dimri from Shalimar Garden in Delhi.
“I wanted to come earlier but could not as I did not get an off on weekdays,” she said.
While the protesters swarmed India Gate grounds, patriotic songs and slogans against the government’s version of the Lokpal Bill tabled in parliament reverberated in the area.
“Anna has galvanised the sleeping middle class into doing something for the nation. We will support him till the end of this fight,” said Divakar Bhatele who came from Noida.
The rally was led by the members of Indian Against Corruption members and Hazare’s team members Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi.
