Chennai : Logistics company TVS Logistics Services Ltd Monday signalled its entry into the assembling of gensets with a deal with Ashok Leyland Ltd at an outlay of Rs.2.5 crore.
The firm has set up a dedicated assembling facility for Ashok Leyland to roll out genset engine power packs in the range of 10-2000 KVA for the latter’s domestic and overseas market, the company said in a statement issued here.
The plant has a capacity to assemble 14,500 units per annum and a facility to expand upto 30,000 units.
Terming the assembling unit as a milestone for TVS Logistics, the firm’s managing director R. Dinesh said: “Very few supply chain companies globally have the capability to provide end-to-end supply chain solutions which include taking ownership of the sub-assemblies. Thanks to our acquisitions in the US and UK, we are now able to offer this service in India.”
As per plans, Ashok Leyland will supply engines and radiator to TVS Logistics, which will procure other components, assemble, pack and handle logistics for the assembled gensets.
“Our power solution business is growing robustly in tune with the domestic genset market that is shortly expected to touch 200,000 units per annum,” Ashok Leyland’s managing director Vinod K. Dasari said.
