New Delhi : A widowed woman moved the Delhi High Court Monday against her son’s school, which denied him the marks sheet and a transfer certificate (TC), over arrears of fees.
Rekha approached the court seeking action against the Guru Harkishan Public School, near the India Gate in central Delhi, to provide her son Abhishek his Class 7 marks sheet and the TC to enable her to get him admitted to the next class at a government school for the academic year 2011-12.
Her counsel Ashok Agarwal said: “The school is insisting the mother pay Rs.52,000 on account of arrears of school fees as a condition for providing the marks sheet and TC.”
Rekha, a widow who earns Rs.3,000 per month by stitching clothes, said the school had also disallowed her son to attend classes from April 1, over non-payment of fees.
“She has not been in a position to afford the school fees and had been requesting the school to grant full fee concession to Abhishek till he completes Class 12. She had been running from pillar to post for grant of full fee concession but did not succeed in getting it,” said Agarwal.
The case will come up for hearing before Justice Kailash Gambhir on Tuesday (Aug 23), Agarwal added.
