Chhattisgarh to have nine new districts

Raipur : The Chhattisgarh cabinet, at a meeting here chaired by Chief Minister Raman Singh, Wednesday formally approved carving out nine new districts in the state.

“The cabinet expressed pleasure at a recent announcement of the state government for setting up nine new districts and formally approved it,” an official said.

With the cabinet approval to the announcement, the total number of districts in the state will go up to 27. The new districts will be Sukma, Kondagaon, Gariaband, Baloda Bazar, Balod, Bemetara, Mungeli, Surajpur and Balrampur.

The cabinet granted approval of a sum of Rs.12 crore as interim budget for the new districts.
