The Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) held rallies in Raipur, Bilaspur and the state’s industrial towns of Korba, Raigarh and Bhilai, a statement by the parties said.

Meanwhile, the support for Hazare grew in capital Raipur with school students, traders and government employees joining peace protests in the heart of the city at Budha Talab.

Chief Minister Raman Singh too extended support to Hazare and said his version of Jan Lokpal bill can help combat corruption.

“The government’s proposed Lokpal bill is too weak. It’s totally meaningless to have such kind of legislation in the country which has been facing one after another major corruption scandals during the Congress-led regime at the centre,” Singh told reporters.
