New Delhi : Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Murli Manohar Joshi Wednesday said the United Progressive Alliance government was “born out of corruption in the 2008 trust vote” and it “doesn’t want to stop the scams”.
“This government is born out of corruption,” Joshi said while initiating a debate on corruption in the Lok Sabha.
Citing DMK MP Kanimozhi’s statement that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister P. Chidambaram should be sought as witness in the 2G spectrum trial, Joshi said the government should “have the courage to accept its mistake”.
Suggesting the prime minister should change the attitude of his cabinet colleagues, Joshi said the nation wants to see “seriousness on the corruption issue”.
He also spoke of corruption involving government officials. “Will you identify such people and punish them,” said Joshi.
Asking the government to bring back black money from India stashed away in foreign banks, the BJP MP said “political parties were ready to support the government on the move”.
Referring to various international reports on corruption, Joshi alleged the government was trying to curb the voices of those protesting against it.
