New Delhi : The countrywide rainfall during July was 14 percent deficient with the largest shortfall in Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh, the Lok Sabha was informed Thursday.
Minister of State in the Earth Sciences ministry Ashwani Kumar said that rainfall in the month of July in the country was 247.2 mm against the normal rainfall of 288.9 mm.
“The monsoon in several parts of the country during the month of July was below normal. Monsoon rainfall received during July 2011 for the country as a whole is realised to be 14 percent below the long period average,” he said.
Monsoon was 53 percent below the average in Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh followed by 52 percent in Punjab.
