Dhaka : Pirates have looted 85 fishing trawlers and abducted 75 fishermen in two coastal districts of Bangladesh, a media report said Thursday.
The incidents took place in the Bay of Bengal off Barguna and Bagerhat districts Tuesday and Wednesday, the Daily Star reported.
A few victims who escaped said they were attacked by outfits called “Raju Bahini” and the Motaleb and Al Amin gangs.
The pirates looted money, fish, fishing nets, mobile phones, radio sets and other valuables at gun-point, and abducted 75 fishermen for ransom along with 10 fishing trawlers.
