New Delhi : Anna Hazare’s health is deteriorating but he is stable, doctors attending to him said Thursday, day 10 of his fast for a strong anti-corruption bill.
“The blood pressure and heart rate are stable. He is resting now and has consumed six litres of water which has brought down ketone (particles created by the body during starvation) levels in his blood,” said heart surgeon Naresh Trehan, who is monitoring Hazare’s health along with his team of doctors.
According to Trehan, a detailed health bulletin would be released in the evening once Hazare’s blood report comes in.
“The reports of his blood test will come in the evening but his health is a matter of concern and the effects of fasting on his body will have to be monitored closely,” said Trehan.
“He is being examined every two hours,” he added.
Hazare, 74, had lost 5.5 kg till Tuesday and doctors Wednesday recommended that he get admitted in a hospital.
However, the anti-corruption campaigner refused to get admitted or be administered a glucose drip.
The doctors have asked Hazare to drink a lot of water and told not to take any strain.
Hazare has been on fast since Aug 16, the day he was arrested and taken to Tihar Jail. He was released the same day, but he refused to leave. He shifted to Ramlila ground here Aug 19 where he has been continuing with his fast.
