Chennai : Tamil Nadu police Thursday filed a chargesheet against union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers M.K. Alagiri for allegedly assaulting an official on election duty and a videographer in March this year.
“The chargesheet was filed against 21 people, including Alagiri today (Thursday) by the Melur police near Madurai,” police here told IANS.
According to police, Alagiri’s followers had attacked M. Kalimuthu, special thasildhar and assistant returning officer for Melur assembly constituency and a videographer for video recording of the union minister’s temple visit.
Speaking to IANS, Melur Police Inspector Madasamy said Madurai City Corporation Deputy Mayor P.M. Mannan and others are named as accused.
