New Delhi : The government Thursday sent Minister of Science and Technology Vilasrao Deshmukh with a letter on behalf of all political parties and parliament to Anna Hazare, urging him to end his 10-day fast.
Deshmukh met Hazare at Ramlila ground to discuss the logjam between government and Team Anna on a strict Lokpal bill.
“The parliament in the morning has appealed to him to end fast. I requested him to withdraw his fast as we are all concerned about his health,” Deshmukh told reporters after the meeting.
Government sources said they hoped that Deshmukh, who has known Hazare for a long time, would be able to communicate frankly with Hazare. “They have shared a good rapport for decades,” an official told IANS.
Hazare, whose fast entered tenth day Thursday, sent a message to PM via Deshmukh.
“Vilasrao Deskmukh met Anna ji and has spoken over the issue. Anna ji has given his reply and it has gone to PM. We are awaiting his (PM) reply,” said Manish Sisodia, member of Team Anna.
