Jaipur : Two men were arrested in here for allegedly smuggling panther skins using the code word ‘I Am Anna’, referring to activist Anna Hazare fasting for a strong anti-corruption bill in New Delhi, police said Friday.
Parvej Khan, 35, and Vasiuddin, 28, were arrested Thursday with a 5.5 feet long panther skin in a trap laid by police.
“They were trying to sell it (skin) for Rs.325,000. We called them to an isolated place,” Police Commissioner B.L. Soni told IANS.
The accused agreed to hand over the skin to a policeman only when he said: ‘I Love Anna’.
“It was the code word for delivery,” Soni added.
