New Delhi : He waited before breaking his silence on the Lokpal bill because he “likes to think” before speaking, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi said Friday, day 11 of Anna Hazare’s fast for a strong anti-corruption law.
Gandhi made a surprise address to the Lok Sabha, calling for fortifying the Lokpal bill by making it a constitutional body like the Election Commission.
“I made a suggestion to elevate the existing discourse… let’s talk about an independent body like the Election Commission that would look into corruption. It is a game changing idea. Let’s consider this. It is an idea more advanced than the discussion,” Gandhi told reporters outside parliament.
Asked why it took so long for him to speak, he said: “I like to think about things and then speak about them.”
