New Delhi : President Pratibha Patil Friday appointed former Andhra Pradesh chief minister K. Rosaiah as the new governor of Tamil Nadu in place of Surjit Singh Barnala, whose term is ending, according to a statement issued here.
The president asked Maharashtra Governor K. Sankaranarayanan to also take responsibility of Goa till his term ends. The term of S.S. Sidhu as Goa governor has ended.
Patil also transferred Jharkhand Governor M.O.H. Farook to Kerala and in his place Syed Ahmed has been appointed as the new Jharkhand governor, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique.
While Ram Naresh Yadav has been appointed governor of Madhya Pradesh, Vakkom Purushothaman has been given charge of Mizoram.
Madhya Pradesh governor Rameshwar Thakur was not keeping well and Mizoram governor Lt. Gen. (Retd) M.M. Lakhera’s term has ended.
“Their appointments will take effect from the dates they assume their respective charges,” the statement said.
