Bhubaneswar : Fishermen in Orissa were Monday warned against venturing out into the sea as it would remain rough due to a low pressure area forming in the Bay of Bengal.
The low pressure area has formed over north-west Bay and adjoining west central Bay off Orissa and north Andhra Pradesh coast, an official of the Bhubaneswar meteorological centre told IANS.
As a result, strong and gusty surface winds from south-westerly direction with speed reaching 45-50 km per hour may prevail along and off the Orissa coast, he said.
Since sea conditions will be rough, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea, he said.
He added that rains are likely to occur at many places over the state during the next 48 hours. Heavy to very heavy rain may occur at a few places.
