BJP MLA Bhawani Singh threw a sandal, not his own but of a party colleague, towards Congress members during a debate on corruption in the assembly session here. In retaliation, Raghu Sharma, MLA from Congress, waved his shoe at him.

The incident took place when BJP MLA Pramila Kundara while debating on corruption issue alleged that Sharma had used his powers to transfer the title of some property near Chaksu in the name of his wife. The issue was raised during zero hour.

Amid pandemonium and protest from Congress members over the allegations, someone from the opposition hurled a sandal which did not hit anyone.

The footwear was taken into the Speakers’ chamber and it was found to belong to BJP MLA Chandrakanta Meghwal and that Bhawani Singh Rajawat had thrown it.

After Congress members demanded strict action in the matter, the Speaker suspended Rajawat from the assembly proceedings for a year.
