Thiruvananthapuram : An Air India flight with 123 people onboard made an emergency landing here Tuesday, an official said. All passengers are safe.
Speaking to IANS, an airport authority official said the Chennai-Bangalore-Thiruvananthapuram flight landed safely following a hydraulic failure.
However, Air India manager Shivanath told IANS that it was not an emergency landing at all.
“A tow-tractor was requested and it was arranged. This is used to tow the aircraft after it lands on the runway. This is being done to save time after the flight lands. The engineers are attending to the aircraft,” said Shivanath.
Emergency landing, according to airline parlance, means the passengers on board would be briefed and all arrangements like ambulances and fire fighting equipment would be readied and present near the runway in case an emergency occurs before the flight lands.
