The Lok Sabha Secretariat has informed Justice Sen that the proceedings would be held on Sep 5-6 and he has to appear at 3 p.m. on the first day to present his case before the house. The Calcutta High Court judge will get two hours for the purpose.

Creating history, Rajya Sabha had on Aug 18 approved the impeachment motion against Justice Sen. If the lower house passes motion to impeach him, Justice Sen could become the country’s first judge whose removal has been sought by parliament for misconduct.

President Pratiba Patil would also have to approve the impeachment motion passed by both the houses.

Justice Sen, then an advocate, was held guilty of misappropriating Rs 33.23 lakh in a 1983 case, while appointed a receiver by the high court.
