Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Saturday discussed the security situation of the state and other issues with Governor N.N. Vohra, an official spokesman said.
The spokesman said the chief minister called on the governor on Saturday soon after his return from New Delhi.
“The chief minister briefed the governor about security management issues,” the spokesman said without giving any details on the issue.
Sources in the government said the security situation was discussed against the backdrop of the decline in the militancy and the chief minister’s campaign for the revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from some parts of the state.
“During their hour and a half meeting, the governor and the chief minister also discussed various important issues relating to the state, which included the establishment of panchayati raj institutions, elections to the urban local bodies and cooperative societies, early setting up of watchdog commissions, the measures being considered to eradicate corruption and for the time-bound completion of major development projects,” the spokesman said.
